Spotted: Lady Blue in Sunny LA

Did you hear about the totally badass partnership between the Crusade for Collecting Tour and The Impossible Project?  I just got my goods in the mail, and I cannot wait to start photographing the crazy art adventure that begins this week! But there's also a contest, and who doesn't love a contest?  Here's the gist:  follow @Crusade4Art and @ImpossibleUSA on twitter.  Look for clues about where Lady Blue will be and when, and snag an instant photo of her.  Post to Instagram and/or Twitter with the hashtag #crusadeimpossible, and you will be entered into a drawing to win one of three amazing swag packages from Impossible.  And if you show up at a pop-up with a polaroid of Lady Blue in hand, I'll lavish you with bumper stickers and buttons.  Official contest rules can be read here.

Well, wouldn't you know that one of my favorite polaroid photographers, Clay Lipsky (check out his Ten collection, all shot with Impossible film) has already tracked down Lady Blue in Santa Monica and taken the coolest shots of her? #crusadeimpossible!

Crusade + Impossible = Instant Chemistry

I have been a huge fan of The Impossible Project, since my old gallery manager, Ryan Nabulsi (an avid Impossible film user, and Ten artist using it creatively) introduced me to it three years ago.  Back then, I went to the Impossible store in NYC to find Dave Bias sitting at the back of the store at a large conference table covered with old Polaroid cameras.  Now when I visit the Chinatown store, the conference table has been replaced with cubicles and about a dozen people buzzing about, doing Impossibly awesome things back there.

Their story is epic and inspirational – an underdog tale of making good on a dream.  And the film is just badass.  Dave and I have stayed in touch over the years and become friends, and it has been amazing to see the film evolve and the dream along with it.

When I first announced the Crusade Tour, Dave was one of the first to give me a high-five, and so now I couldn’t be more excited to announce the partnership between the Crusade for Collecting Tour and The Impossible Project.  This is a dream come true.

We will be documenting Lady Blue’s adventure with Impossible film and creating a travelog of images as we go.  But looking at our pictures isn’t as fun as making your own, and so we will have a contest!  Take and instant image of Lady Blue, post it to instagram and/or twitter with the hashtag #crusadeimpossible, and win cool stuff.  Check the Impossible site for more details.

It’s going to be a wild ride, and now even more fun with the addition of this fantastic partnership.  Crusade away!!
