Rachael submitted to Crusade for Art, and since then I have been lucky enough to fall in love with her personally as well as professionally. Her dedication to her art and her eagerness to engage with all things photography are as beautiful as her portraits.
Between Home and Here BY Rachael Banks
I am the oldest of three, but more like a mother than a sister. A fractured family and a tornado of trouble thrust me into adulthood overnight. I constructed a family of siblings, both real and assumed, to keep me from drowning in this place of my birth – a place I hated everything about and could not wait to escape.
When the escape came, I found myself homesick – not for a physical place, but for my home – my people, my loves. Between Home and Here captures the essence of these people, elevated beyond their circumstances, and allows me to take just the beauty with me when I go.
